Two Corn Maidens on each side of this beautifully carved fetish which is mostly carved out of Spiny Oyster Shell. Corn Maidens have necklaces/neck adornments and Sunfaces on both sides. On one side the Maiden is adorned with Turquoise, Malachite, Lapis, Jet, and Coral on the other side Coral, Turquoise, Lapis, Cultured Opal, Jet and Gold Lip Mother of Pearl Shell. Corn Maidens are on a Picasso Marble base with Turquoise chips around the maidens. The Corn Maiden fetish is honored for nurturing her people with the flesh of her body, the corn. Measures 2 1/4 inches in length, 1 inch wide, and 4 3/4 inches tall. Signed on the bottom of base with “GC” and “Zuni NM”.
