The REVAWASTE project has participated in the LIFE-platform meeting on Circular Economy: Reducing waste generation from industrial sources and/or reducing hazardousness of industrial waste, in Milan / Italy on 27-28 June 2016.
Marc Basany (INFINITVE) during the presentation of the LIFE REVAWASTE project.
The aim of this meeting has been to discuss the contribution of the LIFE projects to the “Circular Economy Package”, which the European Commission has approved in December 2015.
The overall aim of the Circular Economy policy is to maintain the economic value of products, materials and resources for as long as possible, and to minimise the generation of waste. The EC considers Circular Economy as a possibility to combine economic growth and employment with positive effects for the environment.
The LIFE programme is an important financial instrument in this context and the REVAWASTE project has been selected for its contribution to the Circular Economy Package.
The platform meeting aspires to contribute to the promotion of Circular Economy in Europe. At the same time it has been a perfect opportunity for REVAWASTE and other LIFE projects to exchange information, know-how and contacts towards exploring new opportunities.
The meeting has included targeted workshops on the following waste topics:
- Replication in the market;
- Contribution to the overall economy including income/growth/jobs in the Member State / EU wide;
- Policy issues.
The meeting was hosted by Saint Gobain PPC Italia S.p.A., the beneficiary of the LIFE project “Life Is.eco” located in Milan/Italy. It was organised in cooperation with the EC LIFE Environment Unit, with Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) and with the Waste Unit of DG Environment. The NEEMO external monitoring team provided the logistic support for this platform meeting.
